Membership Frequently Asked Questions

Membership Frequently Asked Questions

I have a question.

Please email us: info@adelaideswordsclub.org.au

What licence do I need? Why have the FSA/AFF licence fees changed? Read more on Fencing SA’s website here

In almost all cases the State Licence for $70 is the one to choose. It can be upgraded later.

Is a licence necessary?

Yes, it is compulsory for anyone who fences in SA. While it permits competition entry, it is primarily for insurance.'

I want to claim a SAGov Sports Voucher

We accept vouchers against club membership but not the Fencing SA licence. You can claim using both available vouchers (2 x $100 in 2025) or use one and save the other for another organisation or Saturday classes. We only need your details to claim. Fill out our form and at the end, you will be given discount codes to use when registering membership. We cannot refund unused balances. Find out more at https://www.sportsvouchers.sa.gov.au/

I paid a licence fee in October last year, do I need to do it again?

Yes, club membership and FSA licence fees reset each year.

I (or child) don’t want to fence this year.

That’s OK. Don’t do anything and apart from one more reminder, we won’t email you again, you can rejoin later this year or next year.

I (or child) might fence in a national competition but I’m not sure yet?

You can easily upgrade yourself later but ensure it’s not done at the last minute.

Can I add another email address of a parent or carer?

Yes, a membership can have two email addresses. Siblings and family can also set a primary member.

Can I change my details and email address?

Yes, after renewal, log in and go to Account.

I can't log in?

You can reset your password follow the reset or forgot password or user ID links at the log in page.

As a beginner, what licence is required to have a go at a competition?

The SA State Licence is for $70. It will allow you to not only train at the club but enter Open B, Veterans (40+), Under 17/20 and kids comps from U9-U15.

What are the payment options?

Due to the club fees and the fact that the FSA licence is automatically split, only credit cards can be used. All other club transactions like class registrations can be by direct deposit.

Do I have to have a year’s membership?

The club can offer a payment plan to spread the club fee element over several weeks or months. The Licence element cannot be included. So the application payment would be $70 and then $300 automatically be deducted from a card over an agreed number of payments. This now replaces the previously offered half-year memberships. Email us about setting up a payment plan info@adelaideswordsclub.org.au

Can I cancel my membership?

In general, no for the club but we do consider all requests. Fencing SA’s licences can not.

How do I enrol my child in a Saturday class?

Click here on our website after renewal and at the start of each term.
