Learn about the exciting sport of fencing over five Saturday sessions in our beginner course for ages 8- 11 years. Cost $160* The course starts on March 1 and runs for five Saturdays at 9am plus join in our sessions to the end of term.

In our "Learn to Fence" course for kids (ages 8-11), kids will take their first steps on an exciting journey into the world of fencing. For five weeks, participants will master fundamental fencing techniques, footwork, and the etiquette of this historic sport with our accredited coach and then, if they want to continue, join our Saturday class with the same age group until the end of term.

Register for a sibling or friend of the same age group by adding the additional child's details and choosing two registrations.

Week 1 starts with the equipment basics and the en garde position to build a solid foundation. Weeks 2 and 3 delve into offensive and defensive strategies, honing in on agility and coordination. The fourth week introduces friendly sparring sessions, applying newfound skills in a supportive environment.

The final week of the initial five weeks is all about fun fencing using our electric scoring pistes, allowing kids to showcase their progress. Safety measures and good sportsmanship are emphasized throughout. By the end, participants will not only have learned the art of fencing but also developed teamwork and discipline.

The following weeks to the end of term kids join our regular class to continue to learn with same-aged peers.

If participants would like to continue to learn to fence, they can join the club (at a 50% discount) with Fencing SA registration and enrol in Saturday morning classes.
